On a floating pontoon the Upsolut Event GmbH positioned the ZENDOME.150M in the middle of Hamburg: on the Binnenalster directly at the Jungfernstieg the space for ideas announced the Triathlon World Championships 2007 visible from afar.
Two laser sources with an action radius of 360° implemented the lighting concept of Frank Dauer and Roman Mundhenk: Shapes and figures impressed as a spectacular laser show on the domed roof of the floating arena, which was provided to the organizers by Kugelblitz GmbH/GabiDom.
Above all, the ZENDOME.150M set the mood for the big sports event in the city center every evening with a countdown. For three hours at a time the luminous signs were projected onto the translucent dome membrane and the time until the start of the championship was counted down. “In this way, we want to ignite the euphoria and anticipation of the people of Hamburg,” said Frank Bertling, Managing Director of Upsolut Event.
The concept worked: the World Championships became the biggest event in triathlon history. Almost 9,000 athletes from 72 countries competed in the Hanseatic city from August 30 to September 2.
