Successful premiere: at the 47th “Salone Del Mobile Milano” in Milan, the “Berlin Design Dome” had its lastingly effective appearance from April 16th to 21st 2008. The ZENDOME.150M presented itself for the first time as the new creative ambassador of the capital and enchanted the audience of the most important furniture and product design fair in the world with a total of 270,000 visitors.
On 150 exclusive square meters the “Space for Ideas” presented the exhibition “Made in Berlin” with which 20 young Berlin designers and their objects as well as the mobile exhibition architecture itself under the top-class curation of Francois Burkhardt and Werner Aisslinger proved that design, creativity and quality from the capital are on an international level.
With this project the ZENDOME once again proved its extraordinary variability as a “space for ideas”: provided with a red and white top it became a stylized Berlin TV tower. The recognition value of the well-known urban symbol was successfully used to clearly position Berlin in the context of this international forum, to communicate the creative potential of the “City of Design” and to gain the greatest possible attention.
The fact that the Berlin partners’ concept was a complete success is confirmed not least by the international media response to the sensational Berlin representation in Milan.
With a total height of 15 meters unmistakably located in Via Vincenzo Forcella in the middle of the Zona Tortona, the geodesic dome became a much visited meeting point for important encounters: the special atmosphere of the ZENDOME guaranteed effective networking between exhibitors, companies, distributors, manufacturers, media representatives, project partners and sponsors.
As an exhibition space the “Berlin Design Dome” functioned perfectly: unlike many other of the well over 200 showrooms spread throughout the city, the objects could unfold their full effect in front of the white ZENDOME membrane; the eight meter high dome optimally set the stage for the exhibitors’ extraordinary lights and the geodesic structure also supported other designer pieces to round off the great presentation.
